This committee is one of the most active committee throughout the other committees that have been regulated by the directorate of health and safety in both University of Sulaimani and ministry of higher education and scientific research in Kurdistan region-Iraq. The performances of this committee are based on the principle that work area related to poisonous and hazards chemicals, risks and dangerous materials should be addressed by excellent collaboration and communication between academic staff and students within university along with management and employees in working places. The act promotes a culture of health and safety that includes the appointment of health and safety representatives and the institution of health and safety committees for the workplace.This committee has six other sub branches committee through the Departments of the school, including Departments of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Geology, Mathematics and Computer. These sub branches committees have several members in each department in which they are strongly connected to the members of the School of Science committee. Employers and health and safety committees have legal functions and duties that must be acquiesced.
The functions of our safety and health committee are to:
- Enable and assist consultation and cooperation between academic staffs and students within the University compos.
- Save database information’s about health and safety standards in similar areas of workplace diversity.
- Provide well researched recommendations on health and safety programs, measures, rule and procedures.
- Advice students and workers to initiate, develop and implement safety and health measures such as COSHH form filling before starting practical work.
