PhD Lecturer from Geology Department got selected in ERASMUS MUNDUS- MARHABA program

A PhD lecturer at University of Sulaimani l Geology Department by the name (Dr.Dara Amin) was selected by ERASMUS MUNDUS- MARHABA program where he visited Spain and performed a Series of Scientific Seminars in hope of improving supervision of higher education study's and hopefully performing conjoined research on the matter in the feature.

He has already performed 3 Seminars so far and is planned to do another 2 seminars next week.



MSc Student from Geology department on completing his internship program

in a series of events one of our MSc Students by the name (Sarkhel Hawre Mohammed) has successfully completed his internship program and his field work at Department of Geology, University of Sulaimani.
He's currently a Student at University of Miskolc/Faculty of Earth science and Engineering, Institute of Environmental management/ Department of hydrogeology and engineering.

Today at University Of Sulaimani/ Department of Geology An event was held for remembering our Beloved Teacher Halko Mahmood who passed away one year ago in a mysterious accident .
His Family and Students as well as the department teachers were present.
the event started with some pictures of the diseased then a number of trees were planted in remembrance of his death in front of our Department

A visit from Sulaimani Seismic and Earthquake department to University Seismic station

14/1/2016 a group of Sulaimani Seismic and Earthquake monitoring department visited our University Seismic station and saw the new devices , the way they worked and differences between the stations.
our University team explained information about the station and differences between the devices.

Lecturing the fourth stage students about Seismology and Earthquake

At the University Seismic Observatory and for the first time the fourth year students were shown the live feeds and explained the mecanics of working of the seismic stations
The lecture were taught by the supervisors of the station (Dr. Omer Qadir Ahmed) and ( Mr. Pavel Muhammed Khdir)
The students came to USO under the supervision of (Mr. Harem Omer Qadir) and (Mr. Hemn Fariq Muhammed)

Geology Ph.D Student attendance in Fall 2015 Annual Meeting of the American Geophysical Union in San Francisco

A research team from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR) and University of Sulaimani (UOS) attended the Fall 2015 Annual Meeting of the American Geophysical Union in San Francisco, California USA.  The team consists of the following members:

 

1-    Dr. Professor Hanan Mahdi, The project Director and Principal Investigator (UALR)

2-    Dr. Professor Haydar Al-Shukri (UALR)

3-    Mr. Taher Hama Ameen, a Split-Site PhD student between UALR and UOS and supervised by Dr. Bakhtiar Aziz (UOS), Dr. Haydar Al-Shukri (UALR) and Dr. Hanan Mahdi (UALR).

4-    Mr. Rauf Hussein, a MSc. student at UALR and from Duhok Geological Survey.

 

The team successfully presented their recent research during the Near Surface Geophysics posted session which included part of their findings from many Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) at the Historic Carlisle Cemetery, Arkansas USA.  Below is a copy of the poster presented at the AGU.

Geokurdistan II

Geokurdistan II conference that was held at the University of Sulaimani 6th-8th of October, Results were a great success , this Conference was made possible because of both the Kurdistan Geologist Organization in Sulaimani and Geology department in University of Sulaimani with the Organizing team.
